Here are 5 Key Elements that are very important to consider when evaluating any home business opportunity.
If any one of these are not in place, it reduces your chances for real, long term success. Position yourself in the right place from the start. Then, it's up to YOU!
1. Choose Major Trends-
WELLNESS
Wellness is certainly not the only trend, but it's a really big one...because of the aging baby boomers, it's growing at $250 Million per DAY. People want solutions that are NOT pharmeceutical drugs.
o Economist Paul Zane Pilzer predicts the wellness industry will reach 1 trillion by 2010.
The HOME BUSINESS INDUSTRY
The Direct Sales Industry is already $427 billion market! Network marketing has become very mainstream as companies look for more efficient ways to expose and market their products.
o The poor economy is driving more people every day to start businesses of their own, so there's an increasing demand for legitimate business opportunities.
o Concerns about TAXES increasing- There are many more tax advantages to self-employment than being an employee.
o This business model is recommended by business experts such as Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki (Rich Dad, Poor Dad), T. Harv Eker (Secrets of the Millionaire Mind), David Bach, financial expert and author (Smart Women Finish Rich). Sly Stallone and his wife are involved in the Industry. Joe Vitale and Jack Canfield, best-selling authors and stars of the blockbuster movie The Secret are in Network Marketing. Even Warren Buffet has ownership of a network marketing company!
o Dr. Charles King teaches a course on Network Marketing at the University of Chicago. (How many of you think a University would teach a class on how to scam people?) More and more folks are finally getting it. They now understand the Industry and how powerful it can be if you work it smart.
2. Corporate Leadership-
Make the effort to thoroughly research the group of leaders and their performance within the company and prior to the company. This may be one of the single most important aspects and likely to be the the least researched by those joining the business.
o Do the owners have the right personal expertise or have they put together a team of experts?
o Do the leaders have a track record of absolute integrity?
o Is there solid financial backing and cash flow?
o Is there a complete system of training and support in place that is available to anyone involved with the business?
3. Exclusive Products
o Are the products one-of-a-kind or are there many copycats or alternatives easily available in the marketplace? (For example, someone may love the company's brand of soap, but unless it performs noticibly superior to others in the market, it's relative easy to sway someone to try something else.)
o Are patents or patent-pendings in place to protect the products?
o If the products are health and wellness products, is there scientific research showing that they work or are the claims simply based on a list of testimonies?
o Is there a high demand for products by consumers not interested in the business opportunity?
4. Leveraged Income
o Is the compensation plan devised to assist new associates just starting as well as pay significant income for serious producers?
o Is the income potential lucrative from retail sales as well as recruiting? Are there commissions of 15% or higher commissions from selling products alone?
o Is there a high likelihood that the income will become residual on a weekly or monthly basis as the business grows?
5. Timing
o Is the company in a major growth or momentum phase, or has that time already passed?
o It the timing most ideal for these particular products? For example, wellness products vs. food containers?
Obviously, you want your business to be interesting and exciting to YOU, but use these guidelines as a tool as you do your research on the thousands of options out there or to re-evalutate the company you're with if you're not experiencing the level of success you're looking for!
